Light of Night
A woman stands outside on a bitterly cold winter night. Her reason for being there and the nature of her interactions with her surroundings are left to the imagination of the viewer.

Light of Night is a somewhat anxious meditation on connection and isolation, inspired by the simple experience of walking in Regina—an activity that often foreshadows an eerie post-apocalyptic suburbia. It is a metaphor for the attempts we make to simultaneously connect with and protect ourselves from the world around us.

Shot on black and white 16 mm film, Light of Night is set to music composed and performed by Toronto-based musician Andrew Wedman.

Artist Trading Cards - ATCs are a democratic visual art practice invented by Swiss artist M. Vänçi Stirnemann in 1997. The only rule when it comes to creating an Artist Trading Card is in the dimension: it's got to be a standard trading card size of 2 1/2 by 3 1/2 inches. The only rule in exhibiting or sharing ATCs is that they should never be sold, but only traded. Artists convene at ATC Trading Sessions and trade their work. And if someone wants to trade with you, you are compelled to do so, whether or not you love their work. Hence the democracy, something the visual art world is hurting for. Brilliant idea. Brought to Canada by Don Mabie (a.k.a. Chuck Stake) in 1997, after he participated in the first Trading Session in Zurich. Check out some of my own ATCs, and feel free to contact me for trades!

Postcard Project - I'm useless at sending real postcards, except for occasional ones to the grandparents, so here are some of the colours of Southeast Asia in the form of virtual cards, with messages to boot. More to come as travels progress!

Offerings - Inspired by the innumerable small offers of gratitude that are part of daily life in Asia. Sometimes they're well hidden and hard to spot, but once my eyes opened to them they seemed literally to appear in every nook and cranny.

Humanity - I'm generally uncomfortable taking pictures of people I don't know or don't know well, but in these cases there was no resisting the impulse.
